Hoodie decoration methods

How your branding actually gets onto the hoodie matters as much as the hoodie. Three methods, honestly compared, combinable on one garment, with no setup, artwork or digitising fees on any of them.

The decision that changes how the hoodie ages

Two identical hoodies leave two suppliers. A year later one crest still looks stitched by a tailor and the other is a cracked ghost of a logo. Nothing about the garment differed; the decoration method did. That is why we treat the method conversation as seriously as the fabric one, and why each method above gets a full page of honest treatment rather than a thumbnail and a buy button.

The short version of the map: embroidery is texture and permanence, the method that makes a logo feel like an institution. Screen printing is bold and economical at scale, the poster-paint of garment decoration in the best way. Sublimation is total freedom, the whole garment as canvas, and the reason modern team gear looks the way it does. And hoodie printing as a general question, which method your "printed hoodie" search actually wants, has its own explainer.

What every method shares here

Whatever you choose, the commercial terms do not move. Design is free once you order, with a proof within 1 to 2 business days and unlimited revisions until approval. Every logo, sponsor mark, name and number is included; there are no setup, artwork or digitising fees on any method; and production runs its guaranteed 3 to 4 weeks from approval regardless of how ambitious the decoration is. The per-element pricing culture, a fee per colour, per position, per name, simply does not exist on this side of the fence, which is usually the moment group treasurers stop comparing us to the local print shop and start comparing us to their budget.

If you want the three methods argued against each other properly, the comparison guide does exactly that, including where each one loses. Or skip the theory: send us your artwork and the recommendation comes back with your quote within 2 hours during business hours. Finished examples of all three methods are in the gallery.

One practical note on choosing: let the artwork lead, not the method. A detailed multi-colour crest wants sublimation or embroidery depending on size; a bold two-colour graphic is screen printing's home ground; a design that touches the sleeves or hood has already chosen sublimation for you. Groups that pick the method first and force the artwork into it always end up with compromises a five-minute conversation would have avoided, which is precisely the conversation the free design service exists to have. Bring the artwork, or even a rough idea of it, and the method question resolves itself in the first proof.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Which decoration method is best for hoodies?

There is no single best, only best-for. Embroidery gives a premium raised crest that suits logos and lasts indefinitely. Screen printing owns bold, simple artwork at size. Sublimation covers the entire garment in unlimited colours and can never crack or peel. The right answer depends on your artwork and your fabric line, and we advise honestly in your free design.

Can we combine methods on one hoodie?

Yes. An embroidered chest crest with a printed back is a classic combination, and because there are no setup fees per method, combining costs only what the decoration itself adds to your quote.

Do extra logos or positions cost extra?

No. Unlimited logos, sponsor placements, names and numbers are included in your quoted price. This is the single biggest difference between our pricing and the per-position model most decorators run.

Does the fabric line limit the method?

Partly, and it matters. Sublimation belongs to the polyester line, where dye bonds with the fibre. Embroidery and screen printing shine on the 380gsm heavyweight cotton line. Your designer pairs method and fabric correctly in the proof.

How many colours can our design use?

On sublimation, unlimited, with no cost difference between one colour and fifty. Screen printing builds per colour, so very colourful artwork usually steers to sublimation instead. Embroidery thread colours are matched to your branding.

Will the decoration survive washing?

Each method is applied for longevity: sublimated designs are dyed into the fabric permanently, embroidery is stitched through it, and screen prints use quality inks applied properly. Care instructions ship with every order.

Can you match our exact brand colours?

We colour-match fabric, threads and prints to your supplied references and keep them on file so reorders come out identical. Where an exact process match has physical limits, we tell you before production, never after.

Do we need print-ready artwork?

No. Bring whatever you have, from a crisp vector file to a photo of an old jumper, and our designers rebuild it properly as part of the free design service once you order.
